Food For The Poor In Preparation For T?t

On December 11th, 2019 In preparation for T?t, (the Vietnamese New Year beginning January 25th 2020) Bridges of Saint Mark sent funds to Father Minh to purchase a gift of food for approximately 500 poor and elderly in the Trà ?ch community. On January 21st, 2020, the poor and elderly joyfully gathered at the Trà ?ch Church and received a bowl of ph?, (a Vietnamese soup consisting of broth, rice noodles, herbs, and meat – usually beef, sometimes chicken). Afterwards they gathered in the church where Father Francis Tu Trong Dinh spoke to them the message of Christ and encouraged them to have faith in God. Afterwards, they were given the opportunity to receive a free medical check-up and medicine if needed. Upon leaving, each family received a 22-pound bag of rice, a 2 ¼ pound bag of sugar, rice noodles and one bottle of fish sauce. That’s 11,000 pounds of rice and 1,125 pounds of sugar – Praise God.

The Trà ?ch Church is a place of hope for the poor in their community and with the help of benefactors like Bridges of Saint Mark, they can receive help in time of need. To be sure, the Church works to respond to the needs of their greater community and not only those who are Catholic and attend Mass regularly. Often, Buddhists, Caodaists and even atheists outnumber Catholics in their communities.
